First Session

Taking the first step towards therapy is often the hardest — and at the same time the most courageous. Here is what to expect, so you can arrive prepared and without pressure.

Free Phone Call

Before we meet in person, I offer a free phone call of approximately 15 minutes. In this short conversation you can tell me a little about what brings you and what kind of support you are looking for. I will briefly explain how I work and we will see together whether a collaboration feels like a good fit.

This call is completely without obligation. There is no pressure and no expectations — just a first, open conversation.

The First Session

The first in-person session is 60 minutes — the same length as regular sessions. The focus is on getting to know each other: you tell me what brought you here, what has been difficult, and what you would like. I listen, ask questions and explain how I work.

By the end of the first session we will have a clearer picture of which direction might make sense — and you decide whether you would like to continue.

What to Bring

Nothing special. Come as you are. There are no homework assignments, no preparation and no right or wrong answers. If it helps, you might think briefly beforehand about what is weighing on you most — but even that is not required.

How Often Should I Come?

This depends on your situation and pace. I usually recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions at the start to allow continuity to develop. Sessions can become less frequent later on. There is no minimum — some people come for just a few sessions, others I accompany over a longer period.
