Bodywork is an approach to processing psychological and emotional burdens that focuses on the relationship between body and soul. The underlying idea is that unprocessed emotional trauma and stress are stored in the body and can influence our wellbeing and behaviour. Bodywork encompasses a wide range of methods that engage with the body, including breathing exercises, body movement, massage and energetic techniques.
One aim of bodywork is to support the client in reconnecting with the body and its intelligence, thereby strengthening their ability to cope with burdens. The work can help to dissolve physical tension, release emotional blockages, and strengthen bodily and emotional self-awareness.
An important role in bodywork is also played by shifts in awareness that arise through perceiving one’s own body and its signals. Through the connection of body and mind, you can gain greater confidence and self-awareness, and in this way improve your wellbeing.
In therapy, bodywork, movement and action can be used as individual methods or in combination with other psychotherapeutic approaches.
